‘I Would go to MLS’ – Victor Osimhen Deals Blow to Saudi Pro League Plans to Sign the Napoli Striker Having Been Linked to Al-Hilal in the Summer
Victor Osimhen, the Napoli striker who was linked to a move to Al-Hilal last summer, has indicated that he would prefer a move to the MLS instead, in a blow to the Saudi Pro League and its plans to make a move for the Nigerian in the winter transfer window.
In a Twitch interview with former Italy forward Mario Balotelli and Emiliano Viviano, Osimhen was asked to pick between the Saudi Pro League and the MLS; he said: “If I had the same conditions, I would go to MLS.”
However, despite this preference, Osimhen was complimentary to the Saudi Pro League and the ambitious project they are undertaking to bolter and grow football in the country and make the league one of the best in the world.
Osimhen, 24, said: “They are trying to develop their league, which is good. One [Ronaldo] of the greatest of all time has gone there. Because of his [Ronaldo’s] influence, they have attracted a lot of talented players to also go there. So for me it’s really good, they are trying to build their league into one of the best. For me they are doing something amazing.”
This is not expected to deter efforts to convince the Nigerian striker to move to the Saudi Pro League in the winter window. However, the player indicated that he is happy at Napoli now and enjoying his football.
