Steven Gerrard Hints at Targeting the European Market in January – More Transfers to Come

Steven Gerrard Hints at Spending More in January

The former Liverpool captain and Al Ettifaq head coach Steven Gerrard has declared that the club will target high-profile European players in January.

Gerrard took over Al Ettifaq in July 2023, but the club made little progress. After 12 games they have collected 21 points only and sit 7th in the table.

In the summer transfer window, Al Ettifaq signed several prominent players from Europe. For example, Jordan Henderson left Liverpool and Moussa Dembele joined the ranks of the Saudi Pro League team from Lyon.

Gerrard noted: ‘To assure our fans, we are going to scour Europe for more options.

‘But we’ll also, more importantly, need to scour locally to improve this squad to be more competitive.’

Saudi Pro League has seen a wave of footballers joining from Europe. After spending over £767m on new signings, the league is again motivated to keep an eye on new talents in European top leagues.
