Raheem Sterling to the Saudi Pro League? Speculations Rife As The England International Remains Unsettled at Chelsea
In recent weeks, reports have seen Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling linked with a move away from West London, and the Saudi Pro League has been mooted as a possible destination for the former Liverpool and Manchester City striker.
While Chelsea is happy to sell Romelu Lukaku to the Saudi Pro League in the summer, Raheem Sterling might be unwilling to move. However, Sterling is likely to stay and prove his critics wrong.
CBS’s Ben Jacobs has poured cold water on the speculation linking Sterling to the SPL. Speaking to CaughtOffside, he said, “Sterling remains committed to Chelsea, and is settled in London,” he told CaughtOffside. “But as a high earner at the club, it’s natural there will be speculation about a summer exit.
“Unless Sterling has a major U-turn, he’s going to resist an exit and try to prove any critics wrong. It hasn’t been an easy spell for him at Chelsea, but staying fit and having a run in the side could yet change all that.
“Links with Saudi, and Al-Hilal specifically, are wide of the mark according to my information. Sterling had a very informal approach from Saudi in summer 2023, but since then there has been no contact.”
However, it is early days as the summer transfer window fast approaches. With the season Sterling has had at Stamford Bridge, benign booed by his own fans. The Englishman might be reconsidering his future in West London.
The Saudi Pro League is likely to keep scouring for talent as the project continues unabated, and Raheem Sterling fits the criteria used by the SPL clubs.
