AFC Champions League Matchday Four; The State of the Saudi Pro League Clubs in the Continental Tournament
After two rounds of fixtures in the AFC champions league, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr have shone, Al Feiha have struggled, Al-Ittihad have played just once in the competition so far. As the competition returns this week, the state of the Saudi clubs will be keenly followed, given the mega summer transfer window they just had.
Al-Nassr are at the forefront in performance for the Saudi clubs in the Asian Champions. They are at the top of Group E after two matches. They have won the two clashes, scored five times, and conceded once. Persepolis are three points behind Al-Nassr after winning once and losing once (to Al-Nassr). Al-Nassr will look for a third consecutive win in Group E when they host Al-Duhail on Tuesday night.
Al-Hilal, in Group D, are also at the top but with four points after two rounds of fixtures. They have scored four times and conceded once. Al-Hilal will look to further cement their standing in Group D when they host Mumbai City on Monday night.
Al-Ittihad have played just once in Group C, winning convincingly, 3-0, at home to AGMK in matchday one. Their second match away to Sepahan was cancelled. The Saudi champions will look to make it back-to-back wins in the Asian Champions League Group C when they host Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya on Monday night.
Al Feiha are struggling in Group A. They have won once and lost once, scoring twice and conceding once in the process. They sit third in Group A behind Al Ain and Ahal. Ahal are ahead of AL Feiha on goal difference. Al Feiha will look to end the Group A leaders’ (Al Ain) winning start when they face them away from home on Tuesday night.
