Mohamed Salah Did Not Move to the Saudi Pro League, This Time

Salah Stays Put as the Saudi Transfer Window Slams Shut

Mohamed Salah’s mooted big-money move to the Saudi Pro League did not materialize on deadline day. The Egyptian stays at Liverpool for the time being and will spearhead their bid to chase down Manchester City for the title.

However, the noises from the Saudi Pro League indicate that this was not a one-off pursuit of Salah. Instead, the powers that be inside the SPL are fully willing to be patient and wait for the right time to get their man.

Under coach Nuno Espirito Santo, Al-Ittihad will have to recalibrate their plans after failing to add Mohamed Salah to their enticing forward line.

Al-Ittihad and Nuno had planned to change their current 4-4-2 diamond shape to a fluid 4-3-3 with Salah on one side. However, these plans must be scrapped, and Santo has to use a shape that gets the best out of Karim Benzema, Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, and Jota.

Although the Saudi Pro League will have to go some time without Mohamed Salah, the hopes and work behind the scenes to get the Pharaohs forward will continue into the next transfer window.

Liverpool can breathe a sigh of relief, but for how long?
