“This World Cup Will Be One of The Best Ever” Riyad Mahrez Expresses Confidence in the Saudi 2034 World Cup Hosting Role
During the weekend, the Saudi Arabia Football Federation officially launched its plans for the 2034 FIFA World Cup with the slogan “Growing Together.” The 2034 hosts plan to deliver the best World Cup in history, with early preparations playing an integral role.
Former Leicester and Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez is one of the Saudi-based football pros that have publicly put their weight behind Saudi Arabia. Talking about the project, the Algerian international noted. “It’s an honor to be part of this wonderful and ambitious project. When I first came here, my aim was to help the league grow. It’s a privilege to be part of this; we are super happy, and we’re waiting for all that will happen in this country.”
Mahrez expressed his interest in seeing the league grow and his joy in participating in the development. He also lauded the organizing committee for the efforts already made and the plans ahead, saying, “This World Cup will be one of the best ever – they will organize it in the best way possible. They have the capacity to do so. It’s going to be a long time [away], but it will happen.”
With 10 years to go to the tournament, Saudi Arabia has started early enough to ensure the event is an overwhelming success. As the league develops and local talent continues to learn from seasoned professionals, Saudi Arabia will also improve its chances of giving the home crowd something to cheer about come 2034.
