Lluis Cortes Appointed as Saudi Women’s New Boss

Lluis Cortes has been appointed as the new head coach of the women’s national team by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF). The former Barcelona Femeni and Ukraine manager, who won the UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year award and led Barcelona Femeni to a historic continental triple in 2021, was formally unveiled in Riyadh and signed a four-year deal that would last until 2027.

The SAFF president, Yasser Al-Misehal, expressed enthusiasm and highlighted Cortes’ coaching ability, familiarity with the game, and wealth of experience guiding the team’s development.

Cortes thanked Saudi Arabia for giving him the chance to head the women’s national team. He praised the nation’s increasing interest in football and its dedication to making it accessible to all.
