David De Gea Not Keen On A Move to the Saudi Pro League With Al-Nassr Expressing Interest
David De Gea, the former Manchester United goalkeeper who has been without a club since leaving the Red Devils this summer, has reportedly turned down a £500,000-a-week mega offer to join his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
Although there have been a significant number of new articles and commentaries linking De Gea to many clubs since he left Manchester United, a move has not materialized for last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner.
That situation is not about to change, as the Spaniard has turned down a sizable offer from the Saudi Pro League. This decision is believed to have been driven by De Gea’s wife’s unwillingness to relocate to the Middle East.
Al-Nassr are looking to bolster their goalkeeper position. Saudi Arabia international Nawaf Al-Aqidi has been between the sticks for 11 of Al-Nassr’s league games this season. However, the shot-stopper has managed just three clean sheets in this run.
With Al-Nassr second on the table and looking to maintain a title challenge against leaders Al-Hilal, strengthening the goalkeeper department is a priority. De Gea’s reported snub of the SPL will be a blow to Al-Nassr.
However, this only means that Al-Nassr are in the market for a goalkeeper; therefore, they will continue the search, with a new signing a likely outcome in the winter transfer window.
