Ramón Planes Hits The Ground Running At Al Ittihad With Ángel Correa Transfer Bid
Al Ittihad and Atletico Madrid are in deep negotiations to transfer Ángel Correa to the Saudi Pro League. Manager Marcelo Gallardo and new Sporting Director Ramón Planes both want the player.
Having only started six games in the 2023/24 season, Correa is keen to try his luck elsewhere as his Atletico Madrid hasn’t gone the way he would have wanted. The Argentinian forward has been at Atletico Madrid since 2015 and has scored 59 goals in La Liga, with 2021/22 being his best season, where he scored 12 goals.
On the international stage, Correa made one appearance for Argentina in the 2022 World Cup, where they went on to lift the trophy. He’s struggled to impress manager Diego Simeone and is mostly used as an impact substitute.
Al Ittihad and Atletico Madrid are still miles off with their valuations, with the Spanish side asking for a minimum of €35M. Al Ittihad have yet to decide whether they will be willing to meet the price.
The player will certainly be open to moving from Atletico, having struggled for playtime during his time at the Spanish capital. However, whether he’d be open to a Saudi Pro League move remains to be seen. With Al Itthad having five South American players on their roster, Correa is bound to feel right at home in the Saudi Pro League.
