Al Tai and Al Shabab Share The Spoils in 0-0 Stalemate With Visitors Extending Decent Defensive Record
Al Shabab made it three clean sheets in their last five matches as they failed to score against relegation strugglers Al Tai. For the hosts, it was a crucial point to help keep the hope of staying up alive.
Al Shabab started the game positively with two chances in the 15th minute. First, Yannick Carrasco’s shot hit an Al Tai defender instead of heading for goal. Habib Diallo pounced on the resulting rebound and shot at goal, but Al Tai’s goalkeeper Victor Braga was on hand to make the save.
A spirited Al Tai responded with a Virgil Misidjan attempt that Al Shabab defender Nader Al Sharai easily cleared. Feeling himself in this match, Carrasco continued to threaten the Al Tai defense, most notably in added time of the first half when he had a shot saved.
Al Tai was relatively tame in the second half, failing to make significant inroads into the Al Shabab box. However, in the 85th minute, they had an opportunity to win the game through a corner, but captain Alfa Semedo failed to direct his header into the goal.
With this point, Al Tai remains in the relegation zone, although the gap between them and 15th-placed Al Okhdood is a single point. Al Shabab did not see any movement on the table and remained 10th on the charts.
