Al Hilal Secure Comfortable 3-0 Win Despite Missing Club’s Top Scorer, Aleksandar Mitrovic

Al Hilal Maintain Winning Streak Despite Mitrovic’s Absense

Against Al Akhdood, Al Hilal did not appear to miss striker Aleksandar Mitrovic‘s services and secured a comfortable 3-0 win. The league leaders have gone on a 31-game winning streak, a world record.

As earlier reported, Aleksandar Mitrovic (22 goals in 22 league appearances) will sit out the next six weeks to nurse a hamstring injury he suffered during the hard-fought 4-3 win over Al Shabab. Manager Jorge Jesus selected Saleh Al Shehri to start in Mitrovic’s place, and the Saudi Arabian international did not disappoint.

Fifteen minutes into the match, Al Shehri found himself at the end of a Ruben Neves cross and made no mistakes directing it into the net. Al Hilal were feeling themselves and almost scored a second goal were it not for the efforts of goalkeeper Abdulaziz Al Awardi, who kept out a Renan Lodi strike using his feet.

Strugglers Al Okhdood missed the opportunity to get back into the game when Mohammed Al Jahif burst into the box, only for his shot to be well saved. Ali Bulayhi would later fail to make it 2-0 for the league leaders heading into halftime.

In the second half, a 66th-minute counter-attack led to a Malcolm goal assisted by Al Dawsari. Al Dawsari would put the game to bed with the 73rd-minute goal that sealed the 31st consecutive victory for the league leaders.
