Steven Gerrard’s men have now won three in their last four since the restart of the Saudi Pro League. With a commanding 3-0 win over relegation strugglers Abha, Al Ettifaq have now collected nine points from a possible 12. The three points lost were against unbeaten league leaders Al Hilal.
Al Ettifaq started the game looking dangerous but was unlucky not to get a goal early on. In the 73rd minute, Karl Toko Ekambi pounced on a rebound after a spectacular Tatarusanu save and doubled the hosts’ lead. Toko Ekambi was elated and did not hold back his celebrations against his former team.
Loanee from Al Nassr Seko Fofana whipped a cross into the box at the last minute of regular time and found Moussa Dembele, who made no mistake in heading it home to make it 3-0 for the hosts. Al Ettifaq is now in 7th, level on points with Damac, who have a superior goal difference. Abha remains in danger as they languish at second-last in the ranking with only 18 points this season.
