Why Mbappe Should Have Gone to Saudi Arabia – Opinion From a Former French Player
Kylian Mbappe will bid farewell to PSG after seven years as his contract expires next month. The 25-year-old, considered one of the best players in the world, failed to win the Champions League trophy in his final season and his next destination is probably Real Madrid.
After the departure of Lionel Messi and Neymar, Mbape was thought to be the leading player at PSG. It was anticipated that he would remain in PSG for quite some time, but he made up his mind to leave.
Former French player Marcel Desailly noted that instead of Real Madrid, he should have considered moving to Saudi Arabia. It was estimated he would earn up to €350 million a year playing in the Saudi Pro League. Desailly mentions that Mbappe would earn a fortune and if he were in his place, he would opted for this move.
However, it was never a realistic expectation, as the forward is determined to win a Champions League title – the trophy that has eluded him for so long. The winner of the 2018 World Cup came close in the 2020 final against Bayern but failed to overcome the opponents.
On the other hand, having Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham on the same team could cause some leadership issues. Mbappe is not accustomed to be in the shadows and given Los Blancos’ performance this season, he might cause some tension within the squad.
