Vitor Pereira Confirmed as New Al Shabab Manager After Igor Biscan’s Departure in December

Al Shabab issued an official statement on their Twitter account confirming the appointment of Vitor Rereira as the new manager. The Portuguese national joins the Saudi Pro League side for a six-month commitment that expires at the season’s end.
With Al Shabab being on their third manager this season, it is understandable that the club opted for a short-term deal to assess Vitor’s suitability and consider their options at the end of the season. The club started the season with Marcel Keizer, a Netherlands national replaced by Igor Biscan. Vitor Pereira will hope his luck is better than his predecessors to see him through his six-month term.
Pereira will have a huge task with the club looking to rise up the table from their current 11th position. First on his schedule is a trip away to Damac, who are fifth in the standings. Damac have only lost once in their last five matches, while Al Shabab have a single win in their last five.
Vitor Pereira comes to Al Shabab with a wealth of experience, having managed clubs like Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, and Flamengo. He’s no stranger to the Saudi Pro League, having coached at Al Ahli in the 2013/14 season, where they finished third. However, this version of the SPL is vastly different from the 2013/14 edition, and Vitor hopes he’s prepared for the challenge.
