Long-term Al Ahli Saudi target Victor Osimhen is set to join the Saudi Pro League club after Italian media reported that all parties have agreed on the personal terms and transfer fees.

According to Sky Sports Italia, the Nigerian forward will join Al Ahli on a four-year deal, earning €40 million per year. Napoli have agreed to let their star player go for a €80 million transfer, with the amount expected to rise with the inclusion of various performance-related add-ons. Osimhen’s contract with Al Ahli will also include a release clause.

Al Ahli will be proud of their negotiating tactics after managing to convince Napoli to negotiate a lower price than the €130 million release clause provided for in the 25-year-old’s contract. However, there is a chance that Osimhen will delay accepting the offer to see if Chelsea match Al Ahli’s bid.

With Chelsea and PSG interested in the forward, Al Ahli had to present a convincing offer to get Osimhen to consider moving to Saudi Arabia, given his insistence that he wished to continue playing in Europe. However, with PSG failing to table an offer and Chelsea bidding a much lower amount than what Napoli was asking, Al Ahli became the favorites.

Al Ahli will be securing the services of the top scorer in Serie A in the 2022-23 season. Last season, Osimhen struggled with injuries which also coincided with Napoli’s implosion due to a variety of factors. He’ll hope to put the 2023-24 season, where he scored 15 league goals (low by his standards) behind him as he sets on a new adventure in the Saudi Pro League.
