After Three Straight Wins, Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are on the March
After a tricky start to their Saudi Pro League season, losing two matches on the bounce, Al-Nassr have won the subsequent three on the bounce to climb up to 6th on the table with 9 points and just four behind the early pacesetters Al-Hilal.
They demonstrated their upturn in form on Saturday when they inflicted a heavy 1-5 defeat on Al-Hazm away from home.
The first half of this match at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium was tentative, with both teams not making much headway in the final third.
The match sprang to life in the 33rd minute when Abdulrahman Ghareeb grabbed the opener for Al-Hilal. The hosts pulled level in the 47th minute through Muhammed Badamosi. However, Al-Nassr ensured they went into half-time in the lead through an Abdulla Al-Khaibari strike in the 48th minute.
The second half was an Al-Nassr show, as the imports from Europe took center stage at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. First, Otavio struck in the 57th minute before Cristiano Ronaldo added the fourth in the 68th minute. Sadio Mane finished the rout in the 78th minute, giving Al-Nassr an emphatic 1-5 victory.
The upturn in Al-Nassr’s form in the Saudi Pro League has seen them climb the table, highlighting signs of fierce competitiveness at the top end of the SPL.
