The Top Five Goalscorers in the Saudi Pro League as the League Breaks for the FIFA International Break

Last season's Golden Boot winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, is five goals behind the current top scorer, Al Hilal's Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The 2024-25 season has seen players stepping up to put out stellar performances in the Saudi Pro League. On the scoring charts, we’ve seen players like Mitrovic and Ronaldo pick up where they left off last season, while some new faces at the top, like Benzema, are finding their scoring boots this season. Here are the top five scorers after six rounds of matches.

5. Anderson Talisca – 3 Goals

The Brazilian playmaker has made 101 appearances in the Saudi Pro League and scored 72 goals. In each of his last three seasons, he’s scored more than 15 goals, and he looks set to continue that streak.

Talisca has scored thrice for Al Nassr so far, maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season. One of those goals was a freekick, and Al Nassr will hope the 30-year-old continues his exploits as the season progresses.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo – 5 Goals

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner won the Golden Boot last season with 35 league goals and will be looking to record similar numbers this season. He’s managed five goals in six appearances, a scoring frequency of 107 minutes.

Ronaldo, who expressed a shift in focus from setting personal milestones to helping his team win matches and trophies, will hope to pick up the pace after the international break to catch up with those ahead of him on the scoring charts.

3. Houssem Aouar – 5 Goals

Aouar arrived at Al Ittihad this summer from AS Roma and has already scored more league goals this season (5) than he did the entire last season (4). At Al Ittihad, he’s arrived at a time when everything is going right at the club, and with a focus on attacking football, the chances keep coming.

The Algerian international will hope to keep scoring at his current rate as he helps 2nd-placed Al Ittihad challenge for the top positions this season.

2. Karim Benzema – 7 Goals

Benzema had a torrid start to life in the Saudi Pro League last season, with a falling out with the manager and injuries being the top issues. This season has seen a change in management at Al Ittihad, and Benzema has remained fit so far.
The former France international has been exceptional on the pitch, scoring seven times in six matches. With Al Ittihad having a good season so far, Benzema will hope he can stay fit as he continues to inspire his teammates to rise to the top of the league.

1. Aleksandar Mitrovic – 10 Goals

If the former Fulham striker maintains his goal-scoring average (1.67 per 90) for the rest of the season, he’ll manage 56 goals, setting a league record.

Al Hilal continues its unbeaten streak from last season, and Mitrovic is one of the main reasons why. With 10 goals in six matches, the Serbian has ensured Al Hilal maintains a winning streak with no draws or losses yet to be recorded.
