Al Nassr is sparing no expense in its bid to streamline operations and stay competitive next season after playing second fiddle to Al Hilal in the 2023-24 season. Cristiano Ronaldo’s team is matching his ambition and has brought in Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro as sporting director.

Fernando Hierro has had a storied career in sports. As a player, he captained Real Madrid and Spain’s national team. He went on to coach both teams at different stages of his career. He brings a wealth of experience as a sporting director at Guadalajara and Malaga, and his contacts in European football will come in handy for recruitment purposes.

Hierro’s shared Real Madrid heritage with Cristiano Ronaldo will help ensure their compatibility. Al Nassr has been after Hierro for a long time and almost signed him last season, but the terms did not suit all parties involved.

Fernando Hierro will have his work cut out for him, joining at the start of the summer transfer window. Al Nassr is expected to be incredibly busy in the transfer market to strengthen all positions, especially defense and midfield.
