Saudi Pro League is Making Eye-Watering Salary Offers to Premier League Officials in the Next Stage of the Saudi Project
Premier League’s best officials are being sounded out for possibly moving to the Saudi Pro League and the chance to triple their salaries.
Having splashed the cash in the summer to sign household names into the Saudi Professional League, the next step for the Saudi Project is to get the best officials through the door and into the daily running of the matches in the country.
According to the Daily Mail, Premier League officials sounded out have been told that they could earn as much as £330,000 tax-free per year – a figure that will represent a massive wage increase for the officials.
Some of the referees that have already been approached include Spain’s Antonio Mateu Lahoz and Polish official Szymone Marciniak. Initial reports indicate that these two have rejected the offers on the table.
But concerns are rising in the Premier League that the eye-watering offers will tempt some of the officials and that all it will take is one to say yes and the domino effect will be disruption to European leagues.
