Longterm Saudi Pro League Target, Mohamed Salah, Pours Cold Water On Possible Liverpool Exit

Last summer, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was one of the top players who was the subject of interest from top Saudi Pro League teams. Despite a reported £150m bid from Al Ittihad, the player and his club turned it down.

With manager Jurgen Klopp exiting the Merseyside club and being replaced by Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, speculation has been rife on whether the Egyptian would be open to a move to the Saudi Pro League this time.

Salah has had a storied career at Liverpool, winning the Premier League and Champions League, among other domestic and continental cups. Since joining in 2017, he’s made 349 appearances, scoring 211 (155 in the league) goals.

As Salah’s contract approaches its final year and with changes at the club, there has been speculation about his future. However, the star has hinted at his desire to stay at Liverpool beyond this summer. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his commitment to the club and the fans, saying, “We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.”

Salah will still need to talk to new manager Arne Slot to find out whether he’s in his plans, but for now, he looks determined to stay at Anfield for at least another season. Saudi clubs looking to inject their attack with top forwards like Salah may need to look elsewhere, at least for now.
