Reports Rubbish Rumors of Kevin De Bruyne Reaching an Agreement on Personal Terms to Join Al Ittihad

Kevin De Bruyne Lifts the UEFA Champions League Trophy, Marking The Accomplishment of Winning All Trophies At Club Level

Earlier reports had indicated that Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne had agreed personal terms with Al Ittihad to join the Saudi Pro League club. The reports also indicated that the player was now waiting for the two clubs to agree on the transfer fee. However, the rumors have been rubbished, with multiple outlets reporting that a deal is far from over.

With a year left on his contract, Kevin De Bruyne has been considering a life away from the Etihad. The 33-year-old understands that his next contract will likely be his last. Having won every trophy available to him at club level, he has been weighing his options, with the Saudi Pro League and the Major National League (USA) being among his options.

Despite the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer, Manchester City have reportedly placed a £100 million price tag on the Belgium international. This might scare off Al Ittihad who are looking to adapt to the PIF’s latest strategy of smart investments and avoid paying too much over the top, especially for talent heading into the later years of their prime.

Having signed Karim Benzema last summer when he was the reigning Ballon d’Or holder and failing to get the best out of him, Al Ittihad will be taking a cautious approach and only sign De Bruyne at a fee they deem to be reasonable and representative of his age and the years left on his contract.
