“I See It Becoming One of the Best in the World, If not the Best,” Romelu Lukaku Gushes About the Saudi Pro League
Romelu Lukaku has fueled the rumors linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Despite scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances for Roma this season, the Belgian international has been increasingly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
After he scored the winner in a friendly encounter against Al-Shabab, Lukaku essentially opened the door to such a move with his comments. He said, “In the next two years I see this league becoming one of the best in the world, if not the best. The clubs make a lot of efforts to bring the big players here. As a result, the teams and the footballing qualities are improving significantly.”
When he was asked whether fans could expect to see him in Saudi Arabia again, the former Inter Milan striker winked and replied: “Absolutely.”
This exchange has turbocharged talk of a potential move, either in the winter or summer, for the Belgian to the Saudi Pro League.
A move for Lukaku would be another big coup for the SPL. It will bolster their project, landing one of the finest strikers in Europe and a big name in the football world, who has played for Everton, Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Roma.
Although he has been in fine form for Roma, he is still contracted with Chelsea, and Roma might not have the finances to complete a deal. A move to the SPL looks likely.
