Morocco’s Captain Romain Saiss, “Al-Shabab Was the Best Choice in Terms of Football and Life”

Romain Saiss Believes In Decision To Sign For Al Shabab

After almost joining Ligue 1’s Olympique Marseille last summer, Romain Saiss signed with Al Shabab, a decision he says was ideal for his career and family. The Morrocan captain signed a permanent deal with Al Shabab before leaving for AFCON.

While the move was unexpected, he’s not regretting it, saying, “I wanted a club with a good project that would be right for me and my family. And as a Muslim, it is also great to play football and live in Saudi Arabia.” Al Shabab and Saudi Arabia have proven to be a cultural fit for Saiss, and with the club investing in players, he’s surrounded by talented footballers working towards making the project a success.

Saiss believes the influx of top talent from European leagues will positively impact local youth players. With the local talent able to train with the best and getting exposed to high standards regularly, they are bound to push their limits and improve their quality.

To Saiss, the Saudi Pro League has potential for growth. With clubs investing heavily last summer, most will have learned lessons and will do better business in the coming windows. The quality of the league’s talent will continue to improve as time passes.
