Saudi Arabia’s 2034 World Cup Hopes Boosted with FIFA’s Relaxed Stadium Rule

Relaxing the Stadium Rule Clears A Path for Saudi Arabia to Bid and Stand a Good Chance of Hosting 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia will be allowed to use four existing FIFA-complaint stadiums in their bid for the 2034 World Cup instead of seven.

According to the Guardian, the move by FIFA will allow countries with fewer established football venues to host the tournament.

Before the rule was relaxed, FIFA required the bidding process for 2030 and 2034 to ensure member associations propose a minimum of 14 stadiums, with at least seven existing stadiums.

With FIFA having awarded 2034 tournament bidders from Oceania and Asia under its rotation policy. Saudi Arabia are looking to bolster their current project to grow and expand football in the country, culminating in the World Cup 2034.

Saudi Arabia will welcome this rule relaxation as they look to use four compliant stadiums that they used in their successful Asian Cup bid.
