Pitso Mosimane’s Task to Save Abha From Relegation Takes A Positive Turn With 2-1 Win Against Al Fateh
When he was appointed manager, Pitso Mosimane brought with him the hope that he would apply his Midas touch to save Abha from relegation, just like he got Al Ahli promoted the last time he managed in the Saudi Pro League. With the 2-1 win over Al Fateh, Abha is now in 15th position, a point clear of the relegation zone.
Going into the match, Pitso Mosimane’s men were second from the bottom and were determined to get a positive result. Within six minutes, Grzegorz Krychowiak took some touches of the ball and scored his seventh goal of the season to put Abha ahead.
Around the half-hour, Abha could have gone ahead, but Al Fateh goalkeeper Jacob Rinne stepped up and denied them both times. Hopes of getting out of the relegation zone were dented when, in the 54th minute, former Barcelona player Cristian Tello scored to make it 1-1.
Barely three minutes later, Abha was back on top, with Krychowiak getting his brace. Al Fateh’s efforts to get back into the game were thwarted, and Mosimane’s men responded perfectly to the 8-0 loss to Al Nassr last time out with a well-managed victory.
