Pep Guardiola Expresses an Interest In Keeping Ederson With the Brazilian Still Open to Move to Al Nassr
Manchester City’s goalkeeper Ederson is keeping the door to the Saudi Pro League open. The Brazilian, who is yet to decide on his future, noted that he’s happy at the club but would not commit to staying in England at the end of the summer transfer window.
Al Nassr have made Ederson one of their key targets this summer. The 30-year-old shot-stopper is seen as a key piece to ending the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League runners-up defensive frailties. They already had a €30 million bid rejected, and reports indicate that Manchester City are holding out for €42 million.
Now, manager Pep Guardiola has spoken on Ederson’s future, noting that he’d be more than happy to keep him. Speaking to the press before the friendly against AC Milan in New York, Guardiola said, “I wish from the bottom of my heart that Eddie stays with us.” It is evident that City are open to keeping Ederson beyond this summer.
It remains to be seen whether the comments from Guardiola are to push Al Nassr to meet the €42M price tag or simply his independent thoughts. Ederson responded to the comments on Saturday noting his gratitude for Pep’s comments and appreciating their working relationship. On his future, the Brazilian said, “I’m very calm, whatever happens is in God’s hands and he knows the right way to go. Whatever he gives me I’ll be happy with”.
The latest comments suggest that Ederson’s move to the Saudi Pro League will depend on whether Al Nassr up their bid and meet Manchester City’s asking price. For now, the player is open to the move and waiting for an agreement to be reached.
