Premier League Calling? Al-Hilal’s Ruben Neves Heavily Linked to Arsenal and Newcastle Ahead of the Winter Transfer Window
Ruben Neves has been an ever-present in Al-Hilal’s midfield as they have made an unbeaten start to their Saudi Pro League campaign.
Al-Hilal are unbeaten in their opening 13 matches, winning 11 and drawing two. They lead the table with 35 points, four ahead of second-placed Al-Nassr. Ruben Neves has been integral to Jorge Jesus’ all-conquering squad so far domestically.
That’s why it has come as a surprise that the Portuguese international has been linked with a move away from the Saudi Pro League, first with Newcastle and now Arsenal.
Arsenal are rumored to want reinforcements in the creativity of the midfield engine room, and the 26-year-old Neves is the prime target for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Reports indicate that Neves could be available on a loan deal, with the Gunners interested in a deal after monitoring other midfielders, including Benfica’s Joao Neves, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubumendi, and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.
Newcastle’s interest is also concrete, not least because PIF owns both Al-Hill and the Magpies. However, a deal might be complicated by plans for a Premier League rule change, with clubs fighting to ban clubs owned by the same entity from loaning players to one another.
Ruben Neves and where he ends up is a fast-developing story that will be determined by Saudi Pro League business in the winter window.
