Moroccan International Nayef Aguerd Targeted By Unnamed Saudi Pro League Club
According to multiple reports, Moroccan national Nayef Aguerd is the target of an undisclosed Saudi Pro League side. The West Ham defender, currently on international duty with Morroco for the upcoming African Cup of Nations, has reportedly attracted the interest of a Saudi club.
Aguerd has been at West Ham for one and a half seasons and was part of the squad that lifted the Europa Conference League title last season. He joined for £28M from French club Rennes and has made 16 Premier League appearances this season.
While he struggles with aerial duels, concentration, and passing, Aguerd is a decent interceptor who makes clearances to get his side out of trouble. However, the Saudi club interested in signing him may not get the chance to as he’s expressed his happiness at the London side. West Ham rejected offers from suitors in the summer and is expected to do the same in the January window.
While the club considers him an important squad member, they are reportedly targeting Max Kilman (Wolves) or Jonathan Tah (Leverkusen) as his replacement should he leave for the Saudi Pro League. Should Aguerd leave for Saudi, the interested club will need to make a significant offer to both the club and the player to get them to reconsider their current stance.
