Al Qadsiah, a newly promoted team, has made a significant move in the transfer market. They have successfully convinced Spanish international Nacho to reject a contract extension from Real Madrid and an offer from Al Ittihad. Nacho, who is currently representing Spain at the Euros, will join his new teammates after the tournament.

Al-Qadsiah, backed by the financial might of Aramco, the second-largest company in the world by revenue, earned their promotion by winning the Saudi First Division League. The club, with its strong financial backing, is now focused on bolstering its squad with new signings to ensure a competitive showing in the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Nacho is a statement signing that shows the club’s ambition and will certainly be key to attracting other Europe-based professionals to join the club. The Spanish international had the choice to extend his stay at Real Madrid for another season but opted not to sign the contract because he felt he needed a new adventure after spending his entire career at the club. Al Ittihad were interested and entered into talks with his representatives, but the parties failed to reach an agreement.

When discussing his move, Nacho stressed, “These things don’t affect me in the games. I knew it for months and it’s made me enjoy things more.” His current focus is on aiding his team in their quest for the EURO 2024 trophy. Nacho’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities, which he will bring to the dressing room and the pitch, will be invaluable for Al-Qadsiah.
