Manchester United’s John Murtough Strikes Out in Attempt to Offload Four Players to Saudi Arabian Clubs

Murtough Meets Saudi Clubs to Offer Four Players

Manchester United has continually struggled to offload players once they flop due to the massive size of their contracts. In an effort to find suitors for top earners not considered part of the future at the club, director of football John Murtough made a secret trip to Saudi Arabia to find suitors for four players.

Reports indicate that Murtough offered Casemiro, Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho to various Saudi clubs. However, with the league’s director of football, Michael Emenalo, insisting that Saudi Arabia is not a “dumping ground” for flops, no Saudi club expressed an interest in the four players.

However, Murtough did not walk away empty-handed, having established new relationships likely to pave the way for future transfer business between the 13-time Premier League winners and the Saudi Pro League.

With UEFA having fined United £260,000 for breaching Financial Fair Play Rules, the club is under pressure to sell. This is good news for Saudi clubs who may be targeting some Man United players. The pressure means United may be forced to consider offers even for players in their prime.
