Napoli Set To Reject Al Shabab’s Bid For Matteo Politano
Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab have set their sights on Napoli’s Matteo Politano. The club is understood to have placed a €12m bid on the Italian winger with lucrative personal terms.
Politano has been instrumental for Napoli this season, having made 18 appearances (only three as a substitute), scoring five and assisting 3. He’s known for his preference to cut inside and try shots from distance. He’d be a welcome addition to the Al Shabab squad with his strength in set pieces, dribbling, and crossing.
Al Shabab needs an injection of creativity in their team to help climb out of the bottom half of the table. However, based on the reports from reputable sources in Italy, Matteo Politano may not be one of those additions to the squad.
The player is reportedly considering a contract extension offer from Napoli, who have proposed a three-year deal with an option to extend for an additional year. The Serie A defending champions intend on keeping their prized assets, especially with uncertainties surrounding other forwards like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen, who are expected to attract suitors from various top leagues.
While the door on Matteo joining the Saudi Pro League isn’t closing, it is unlikely that he will join during this January transfer window.
