Liverpool Stars on the Radar of Saudi Teams
Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Alisson are reportedly the main targets of Saudi teams during the 2024 summer transfer window. It will be another attempt to sign Liverpool’s footballers following the transfers of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
A new rule in the Saudi Pro League will enable clubs to extend the number of foreign players from eight to ten. This will further help them sign top-notch footballers, as they are not restricted in paying huge sums for such transfers.
Mohamed Salah was considered the main target even before the start of the 2023-2024 season. However, the deal failed to materialize. This summer, Saudi teams plan to bid $190m for the Egyptian.
Alisson is also in contention. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been pivotal to the team’s successes from 2018. His departure will raise serious concerns for Liverpool regarding their goalkeeping position.
Saudi teams have already targeted numerous Premier League footballers. Most recently, they have expressed interest in Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
While there are offers from Saudi teams, Liverpool is confident they can retain both players. Salah’s contract enters its final year this summer, while Alisson still has a deal till 2027.
