Aymeric Laporte Rubbishes Reports Linking Him To Quote About Many Saudi Pro League Players Being Dissatisfied With the Environment
Former Manchester City defender and current Al Nassr player Aymeric Laporte has rubbished quotes attributed to him talking about players being dissatisfied with the conditions in Saudi Arabia.
A prominent Spanish publication published an interview with the Spanish national where he allegedly talked about some negative aspects of playing in Saudi Arabia. Speaking about the ease of movement, he said, “In terms of quality of life, I expected something different because, in the end, here you spend three hours a day in the car. Riyadh is a blast of traffic, of time wasted in the car.”
The Al Nassr defender also talked about dealing with his domestic teammates and Saudi teams in general, citing an absence of an elite sporting mentality, saying, “They take everything lightly. Whatever ultimatum you can give them, they don’t care. I mean, they’re really going to their ball.”
While the player has not issued a statement regarding the accuracy of the published quotes, he has suggested that they are inaccurate. In a response on X (formerly Twitter) to select quotes from the interview, he responded with the X sign, suggesting that he wanted to distance himself from the quotes.
