Former Celtic Hero Jota to Leave Saudi Arabia Just a Month After £25million Switch to Al-Ittihad

Jota Heads for Al-Ittihad Exit Door

Jota is set to leave Al-Ittihad after just four appearances for the Saudi side, according to stunning reports. The 24-year-old earned his move to the Middle East after starring in Scotland, where he scored 15 goals in all competitions last season.

The Celtic Treble winner joined Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Thiago in Jeddah earlier this summer in a transfer worth £25 million – a club-record fee paid for a player.

No explanation for the winger’s mysterious exit has been given, although journalist Sami Al Qadi has suggested he may be sent out on loan. Although Jota excelled in Scotland and the Portuguese second tier with Benfica B, he struggled in his two seasons in La Liga and the Primeira Liga.

Jota scored just twice in 28 games in his one full season with the Benfica first team and twice in 18 games during a season on loan at Real Valladolid.

While his situation remains a mystery, Al-Ittihad has made an excellent start to the season and sits at the top of the league after wins in both opening games.
