Off to a Winning Start; Igor Biscan Guides Al-Shabab to a 2-0 Win on Debut
Al-Shabab football club were victorious on Saturday when they emerged 2-0 winners in their home clash against Al-Ta’ee.
For Al-Shabab, the win was important as it saw them return to winning ways after two matches where they managed a defeat and a draw. The win takes them to 12 points from 10 rounds of fixtures, and they sit 10th on the table.
Crucially for Al-Shabab, this was the first match in the dugout for Croatian manager Igor Biscan, who took charge of Al-Shabab in a competitive match for the first time. This meant that Biscan made a winning debut in the SPL, which could bode very well for the future of Al-Shabab in their bid to climb the table and then crash into the top half.
In their new stadium, Al-Shabab showed renewed vigor, fighting, and aggressiveness in their play. They showed character in dominating and controlling the match when they needed it.
Al-Shabab showed maturity on and off the ball, characteristics that could have made Biscan happy as he sets about shaping his new side.
After a tight first half, Al-Shabab found the breakthrough in the 50th minute through a Habib Diallo strike. They maintained their solidity at the back and compactness in the middle, controlling the match even without the majority of the ball.
Biscan’s men grabbed the decisive second in the 95th minute through a Hussain Alqahtani strike.
Biscan will hope that these are signs of things to come as he bids to change Al-Shabab into a major contender in the Saudi Pro League.
