Reports Emerge Suggesting a Growing Frustration Against Neymar Jr. at Al Hilal as Brazilian Star Continues His Recuperation
After damaging his knee ligament in October 2023, Neymar Jr. has been out of action with an indication that he will be back to full fitness soon. However, reports are now suggesting that patience is running out at Al Hilal.
According to Spanish publication Marca, the feeling at Al Hilal is that the Brazilian forward should have returned to playing by now, but he’s not been putting in the extra effort to gain full fitness. Additionally, there have been concerns over his conduct off the pitch, which has led some within the club’s hierarchy to suggest that Neymar doesn’t have his priorities straight.
The Saudi Pro League defending champions were not confident that Neymar would return before the end of the first half of the season. Consequently, a decision was made to opt out of registering the forward with the intention of doing so in January.
Since signing for Al Hilal, Neymar has played only five games. During that time, the club has been paying him a reported 100 million euros a year. With the PIF limiting the funds to its teams, there is a need to ensure the available funds are used efficiently and the feeling is that the money being paid to Neymar could be beneficial to the club in other areas.
Still, there is no indication that the club is considering terminating Neymar’s contract. The Brazilian forward will have the chance to demonstrate his worth once he regains full fitness. Manager Jorge Jesus has indicated that Neymar is far from ready, but an assessment will be made in early January.
