Al Ettifaq Looking At Multiple Candidates To Replace Jordan Henderson With Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré The Latest Target
Al Ettifaq is looking at multiple candidates to replace their departed captain, Jordan Henderson. So far, reports have linked the Steven Gerrard-led team to Al Nassr’s Seko Fofana, and now Al Ettifaq is reportedly in talks with Everton to secure the services of Abdoulaye Doucouré.
Everton is currently in a challenging financial position after being deducted 10 points for failing to meet the conditions of the English Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
The Merseyside club also awaits a ruling on a different set of charges. This places them in a precarious position where they may be forced to accept a reasonable offer for a player such as Doucouré, who has been a key part of Sean Dyche’s midfield this season.
The French-born attacking midfielder plays for the Mali national team and has been at Everton since the 2020/21 season. He excels in breaking up plays and playing short passes to progress the ball into the final third. He also has an eye for goal and has scored six goals this season.
The talks between Everton and Al Ettifaq have not progressed significantly, with the Saudi Pro League side waiting for an indication from the player’s camp on whether he’d be open to the move. Should they receive the green light, they will push their talks with Everton a notch higher and, hopefully, get Steven Gerrard his man.
