Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Targeting Tottenham Defender Emerson Royal
Al Nassr, aiming to fortify their defensive line after a challenging season, is eyeing a potential signing of Emerson Royal from Tottenham. The Brazilian’s adaptability, capable of playing as a full-back, wing-back, or center-back, could significantly enhance the club’s defensive options.
This is not the first time the Cristiano Ronaldo-led club has registered an interest in the Brazilian. Tottenham turned down an offer from Al Nassr in January, but Al Nassr might have better luck in the summer with plenty of replacements available in the market.
Emerson, primarily a right-back, has accumulated 101 appearances for Spurs, including 22 in the 2023-24 Premier League season. The 25-year-old’s style of play is characterized by his combative nature, although his attacking contributions are limited due to his poor crossing abilities. However, his decent passing range and adaptability to any defensive position make him a valuable asset.
With profit and sustainability rules restricting Tottenham’s activities in the transfer market, they will be keen on a deal with Emerson. They might even use the opportunity to present Al Nassr with possible deals for other players not included in their long-term plans. The successful conclusion of the deal will ultimately depend on whether Emerson is open to moving to the Saudi Pro League.
