Cristiano Ronaldo Chasing Abderrazzaq Hamdallah’s All-Time Saudi Pro League Record of 34 Goals
After the latest round of fixtures, Cristiano Ronaldo maintains his position as the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer with 22 goals. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also at the top of the assist charts with nine.
With 13 fixtures remaining, Cristiano will need twelve more goals to match Abderrazzaq Hamdallah’s tally of 34 goals in the 2018/19 season. If the Portuguese international averages a goal per match for the remaining fixtures, he’ll enter the history books as the highest-scoring in a single season in the Saudi Pro League.
By this stage of the season in 2018/19, Hamdallah had 17 goals to his name, five less than Ronaldo’s tally. Hamdallah rallied in the second half of the season and managed to make it 34 goals to take home the Golden Boot. Impressively, the Morrocan international only made 26 appearances in the league.
An ever-present player in the Al Nassr starting lineup, Cristiano has enjoyed the less tenuous schedule as opposed to what he was used to in Europe. At 39, while age-defying, Cristiano has had to be careful to avoid getting injuries. Should he maintain the trend and stay available for the remainder of the season, Hamdallah’s record will surely be erased.
