The five-time Ballon d’Or winner leads the Saudi Pro League scoring charts with 23 goals so far, and he is on track to dethrone Abdelrazzak Hamdallah’s all-time scoring record. However, the Portuguese international is also leading the league in another metric: most missed chances.
Ronaldo has missed 20 chances in the Saudi Pro League, with Aleksandar Mitrovic following with 19. With the many missed chances, it would be fair to say that Al Nassr could be within touching distance of Al Hilal if he’d converted half of those chances.
It is worth noting that Ronaldo is only one missed chance ahead of Al Hilal’s top scorer, Aleksandar Mitrovic. The key difference that has Al Hilal 12 points clear of Al Nassr on the table is that Al Hilal relies on the rest of the team to step up when their marksman is unavailable or not as clinical. Al Hilal has three players on the top ten scorers with Mitrovic (20), Al-Dawsari (11), and Malcolm (10), while Al Nassr only has two, with Talisca (16) joining Ronaldo.
With the burden of scoring shared among more teammates at Al Hilal, the team has gained a significant foothold in the title race unlike Al Nassr, whose results depend on whether Cristiano converts his chances on a given matchday.
