Cristiano Ronaldo Gushes About “One of the Best Seasons in my Career” As He Takes Stock of the Just Concluded Saudi Pro League Campaign
Despite finishing the Saudi Pro League without any major team honors with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo is still impressed by his kind of season, given his record of scoring 35 goals and becoming the all-time top scorer in a single season.
The Portuguese forward scooped the top scorer award for the 2023-2024 season after his brilliant achievement of notching 35 goals in just 31 matches. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner eclipsed Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 34 goals in a season set in the 2018-2019 season.
To Ronaldo, breaking the record and the top-scorer accolade meant something, “This means a lot. I feel very happy. It may be one of the best seasons I have ever had in my career in terms of goals, but it is also a great season in assists.”
Further, the Al Nassr captain said, “To be honest, it means a lot because it’s my job. I have to admit it wasn’t something I was looking for at the beginning of the season, but as time went by, I started to see it was possible. So, I have a chance to say thank you to my teammates because without the team, it wouldn’t have been possible.”
Expressing an increasing connection to the Saudi Pro League and his pride in being a part of its history, Ronaldo said, “I feel proud to break the record for the Saudi Professional League. This is wonderful for me, and makes me feel happy, and this is my real motivation for playing football, to train every time and to continue doing this.”
While Ronaldo is focused on the upcoming Euros in Germany with Portugal, he also looks forward to next season with Al Nassr.
The focus for Ronaldo, individually and collectively for Al Nassr, is to close the gap to the domestic treble winners Al Hilal as they prepare for a tilt at the Saudi Pro League title.
