Chelsea Happy to Let Romelu Lukaku Join the Saudi Pro League in the Summer Window as Interest in the Belgian Looms

Chelsea Will Not Stand in the Way of Lukaku’s Saudi Move

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, 30, has spent the last two seasons on loan in Serie A after falling out of favor at Stamford Bridge following a controversial interview he did with Sky Italia in which he revealed his desire to return to Inter Milan just months after signing for the West London side.

Chelsea gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out the possibility of Romelu Lukaku returning to Chelsea and leading the line next term in the first team. However, all indications show that Chelsea will be hoping to sell to the Saudi Pro League if the opportunity presents itself in the summer.

Ben Jacobs of CBS has indicated that “Chelsea are naturally open to doing more business with Saudi, and they will gladly sell Romelu Lukaku to a Saudi Pro League club.

“Al-Hilal had a €45 million offer accepted last summer but Lukaku wanted to stay in Italy. Al-Hilal now have other targets, but keep an eye on both Al-Shabab and soon-to-be promoted Al-Qadsiyah.”

At just 30 years old, Lukaku is still at the peak of his abilities. He has shown prowess at AS Roma this season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions. He has plundered 11 goals in Serie A, 7 in the Europa League, and 1 in the Italy Cup.

Despite Chelsea’s need for a striker, they will likely cash in on the Belgian as they fight to meet FFP requirements for next season. Heavy spending has left Chelsea needing to sell before they can invest in the squad further.

For the Saudi Pro League, it could mean finally landing another marquee striker to join a list of several stars that have moved to the Middle East club.
