Jamie Carragher is Worried About the Rise of the Saudi Pro League
Jamie Carragher has expressed his worry about the rise of the Saudi Pro League and its financial muscle, arguing that it could disrupt the European leagues.
Specifically, Carragher told CBS during the coverage of the Champions League that the allure of the Saudi Pro League is likely to expand to include players in their prime in the coming transfer windows.
After spending big on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Neymar, Sadio Mane, and Jordan Henderson, the expectation is that the Saudi Pro League project will continue unabated once the next transfer window opens.
Jamie told CBS, “I think right now it’s a slight worry that could certainly grow and that was my fear over the summer,’ he began. ‘I don’t think it’s quite materialized in the way I first feared in the sense that it’s players that are coming to the end of their career.”
The sentiments expressed by Jamie Carragher are widely held by others in European Leagues. However, there is no sign that their protestations are about to halt the growth and expansion of the Saudi Pro League any time soon.
