Carlo Ancelotti Dismises Vinicius Jr Saudi Reports as “Just Speculation,” Insisting That There Is Nothing Else to It

Vinicius Jr Celebrates His Goal in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League Match Against Borussia Dortmund.

After sensational reports indicated that Vinicius Jr had received an offer from the Saudi Pro League that would see him earn thirteen times his current salary, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has termed the reports as speculation.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference for the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw, Ancelotti responded to the Vinicius Jr news, saying, “There’s just speculation, nothing else.”

The reports indicated that Saudi Pro League representatives had proposed a five-year contract worth € 200 million annually, making it € 1 billion for the duration of the contract. Despite the offer promising to make Vinicius Junior the best-paid player on the planet, the talks have not progressed in any meaningful way.

Vinicius, 24, is happy in the Spanish capital, even after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, with both players not worried about playing time. Ancelotti has assured both of them that despite favoring starting on the left side of the attack, he’ll find a way to play both of them without compromising the team’s structure.

Ancelotti went on to speak about the impact of the Saudi Pro League on Madrid’s project. The Italian manager said, “We have our project, and we continue with that. We have a squad of great quality. … We’ve lost important players, and we’ve brought in others who have to adapt. We have to work to maintain the atmosphere and the commitment, which was the key last year.

It is clear that a move for Vinicius Jr will not be possible this summer. However, a lot can change in a season and the SPL is bound to try again should there be a change in circumstances for the Real Madrid forward.
