Al Hilal’s Top Scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic Set To Miss Clasico Against Al Ittihad Due to Suspension
League leaders Al Hilal will head into their Clasico clash against Al Ittihad without key player Aleksandar Mitrovic. Mitrovic, who sits 2nd in the scoring charts, has 19 goals in 19 league appearances, and his absence through suspension will leave a huge gap.
Speaking after their last match, Kalidou Koulibaly commented on Mitrovic absence in the Al Ittihad match, saying, “It will be difficult as Mitrovic is a very important player in the team, but I said we play as a team. Koulibaly also talked about the options available, saying, “We have a good team; Al Hilal is a collective side. Whoever plays, we have Saleh and Al Hamdan. They will do their best, and God willing, we’ll win.”
The Saudi Clasico is rich with history, and Al Hilal currently holds the bragging rights, having emerged winners last time they met in a 4-3 thriller. Al Hilal managed to claw back from two goals down to win the match. With their momentum of not recording a single loss all season, Al Hilal will be in a good position even without Mitrovic.
While it looks like Al Hilal is set to lift the Saudi Pro League trophy at the end of the season, Al Ittihad is the current champion and will want to secure a statement-making win in the Clasico.
