Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab Wants to Sign Atletico Madrid’s Carrasco
Negotiations for the transfer of Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid to Al Shabab have reached a critical stage as the Saudi club has reportedly agreed personal terms with the player. Now, everything rests on Atlético Madrid’s financial demands.
While an agreement between Carrasco and Al-Shabab may be reached, Atletico will be more difficult to deal with. The La Liga club has no intention of accepting a last-minute offer, with the European transfer window shutting down on September 1. However, the 29-year-old only has one year left on his current contract, which could lower their asking fee significantly.
According to Santi Aouna, the Saudi side has yet to submit an offer for the Belgian international but is in no hurry, with the Saudi transfer window not set to close until September 20.
The versatile 29-year-old is currently in his second spell at Atletico since returning from Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang and helped Los Colcheneros to their first La Liga title in six years in 2020.
Carrasco has played as a wingback this season, although he has operated as a wide forward, left winger, and as a number 10, scoring 47 goals from 265 appearances in all competitions during his two separate spells at the Madrid-based club.
