Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Open Talks to Sign Former Arsenal and Current Juventus Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny
In a determined effort to catch up with Al Hilal, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr are actively seeking to bolster their defense, and they have set their sights on former Arsenal and current Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny as the key to their defensive strategy.
Having conceded 42 goals in the just-concluded 2023-24 season, Al Nassr feel the need to make changes at the back. Al Hilal conceded only 23 goals, while both Al Ahli (3rd) and Al Taawoun (4th) conceded 35. Despite their attacking prowess that saw Cristiano Ronaldo set the league’s scoring record, Al Nassr were let down by their defensive setup, and the club’s management see Wojciech Szczesny as the ideal goalkeeper to address the problem.
Szczesny is currently under contract at Juventus and has only a year left. The Old Lady will be inclined to explore selling him to avoid losing him for free next summer. Having made 252 appearances for Juventus, Szczesny has had a trophy-laden career in Italy, amassing 3 Serie A titles, 3 Coppa Italia titles, and 2 Italian Super Cups.
Juventus are already preparing for a future without Szczesny and are confident of signing Michele Di Gregorio from Monza for €18M. Additionally, the club is expected to open contract extension talks with Mattia Perin. The decision on whether to accept Al Nassr’s offer will largely depend on Szczesny. However, with the club planning a future without him, things are looking positive for Al Nassr.
