Al Nassr Looking To Bolster Backroom Staff With Fernando Hierro’s Poaching From Chivas
Reports in Saudi Arabia suggest that Al Nassr and Chivas are engaged in advanced talks to transfer Fernando Hierro. The Saudi Pro League side hopes to appoint him as sporting director.
Initially, Al Nassr wanted to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’s countryman, Miguel Rubero. However, talks between the parties broke down, and Al Nassr moved on to the next target.
Al Nassr’s struggles to win any silverware this season have proven the need to employ a sound recruitment strategy that looks at the process holistically to ensure the team is well-balanced. Overreliance on Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson Talisca has seen Al Nassr struggle to deliver results when the two have missed matches or been out of form. Other teams, such as Al Hilal, have demonstrated the importance of a well-rounded team, with the league leaders delivering results even in the absence of key players.
Hierro will be a welcome addition given his wealth of experience, including his time as the Real Madrid assistant coach, head coach at Real Oviedo, and role with the Spanish FA.
