Al-Nassr Looks to Offload Sadio Mané as Luis Castro Charts New Course

Mané on his way out at Al-Nassr

Thirty-two-year-old Sadio Mané started his campaign at Al-Nassr with promise, but he will not continue the season as head coach Luis Castro looks to move on from the ex-Liverpool star.

Despite playing over thirty games and scoring thirteen goals, Mané is not in Castro’s plans for the team’s future. Al-Nassr has attempted to offload him to other Saudi clubs, including Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, and Al-Qadsiah, but all three have declined the offer. But there could be a future somewhere else for the superstar, as reports claim an unnamed club in Turkey’s Süper Lig is interested in his services.

One of the reasons Castro’s staff want Mané gone is that more was expected from him in the season and that his abnormal wages don’t justify his presence. There are scenarios in which he could be loaned if the club cannot find a sale, but this is not a dream situation for the club as Al-Nassr would have to keep paying him the same wage. Once Sadio Mané is gone, Al-Nassr will have more flexibility to sign other, potentially better, stars.
