Al Nassr Targets €100 Million Transfer for Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger to Bolster Defens

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger celebrates with arms raised after scoring a goal.

Media reports in Spain indicate that Al Nassr is interested in signing Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger with the Saudi Pro League prepared to table a €100 million offer.

Al Nassr’s defensive line faced significant challenges in the recently concluded 2023-24 season. As a result, the club has made it a top priority to fortify its defense during this summer’s transfer window. The potential acquisition of Rüdiger, a key player in La Liga and Champions League-winning side, could be a game-changer for the team.

After his arrival from Chelsea on a Bosman transfer in 2022, Rüdiger struggled to adapt to life in the Spanish capital but has grown into a starting role since late last season. In the 2023-24 La Liga season, he made 30 starting appearances and only 3 as a substitute, compared to the 2022-23 season, when he started 26 times and came on as a substitute in 7 matches.

With both Éder Militão and David Alaba coming back from long-term injury layoffs due to tearing their ACLs, competition at center back will intensify. Additionally, Rüdiger is heading into the final year of his contract, meaning this is the last summer Real Madrid will have a chance to sell him.

Under the current circumstances, Real Madrid’s president, Fiorentina Perez, might be enticed to accept the €100 million bid for Rüdiger. This could potentially free up funds for the club to make a strategic move for a younger center-back. Real Madrid has been linked with 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro, and the availability of funds from a potential Rüdiger sale could accelerate this transfer.
